We are a Senegalese company that aims to improve the living environment of the population through better solid waste management to ensure the continuity of the solid waste management service in Senegal.

SONAGED will implement the national strategy of waste management around three trades:

• Manage the collection and transportation of waste on behalf of local authorities
• Manage and operate the infrastructure at the decentralized level through operating companies in relation to local authorities
• Create channels for the industrial recovery of waste into electricity, fertilizer, etc

We will also promote inter-municipality, the professionalization of the sector with the accountability of waste producers (polluter pays), and the expansion of the circular economy, which is a major source of employment in Senegal.

In terms of socio-economic benefits, SONAGED's activities will lead to the creation of more than 17,000 jobs after five years and the treatment of 2.5 million tons of waste per year. Also, 200 billion FCFA will be necessary to ensure the functioning of the company and to meet the costs with the collection service providers (concessionaires), and the suppliers, among others, at the level of the 557 local authorities concerned.

The purpose is to ensure a triple perspective of professionalization of the sector, job creation, and development of the waste recovery industry to build a “Senegal with zero waste territories”.

Our Vision 

Guarantee the achievement of a "zero waste Senegal" through the strengthening of waste management services, the creation of new sustainable cleanliness management services, the assurance of the sustainability of treatment infrastructures built by the State, and the development of a waste recovery industry. It also aims to achieve greater economic sovereignty of the country in waste management by guaranteeing the presence of the State, local authorities, and the local private sector in the sector. This is through the creation of a real waste industry (circular economy).
